Messy Church

Messy Church…

Messy Church is an alternative kind of midweek church experience where the emphasis is on learning about God through fun crafts and games, simple Bible stories and ideas all designed to give a positive message that God loves the world he has made and all that he created within it. Messy Church is inclusive in every possible way and we explore just how much God loves everyone and that we are all his children. It is called Messy Church because it is more than okay to make a mess with our exploration and play through the crafts we do plus we recognise that most of us have messy lives and we can bring all that along too for God to deal with! God loves mess! So it’s interactive, creative, informal, great fun, and we would love to see you. It is for people of all ages from 0-100, the activities are geared for children, but we are always looking for extra helpers.

We meet 10 times a year in the Capel Memorial Hall. Doors open from 3.15 onward and we normally finish about five pm-ish after a cooked tea. There is no charge but of course donations are always welcome if you would like to contribute. Messy Church is a shared event for parent or carer with their child or children. Each month we have a different theme around the Christian story from which we plan exciting things to do or make and we have a lovely short celebration at the end where we hear a story and sing a song. Be assured though that although we promote a messy ethos, the organising team are not messy in our approach or attitude so we aim to make your Messy Church experience as thoughtful and happy as we can.
