Notes for Sunday 25 October 2026

Dear friends,

We have been back from our jolly in France a week now.
One of our trips whilst out there was to a mushroom museum/nursery. The setting was a system of corridors, hewn out in the chalk rock formations bordering the Loire river. The blocks were used for building and the spaces left are used by wine producers for storage, as living quarters and musea.

The picture today is of a Lion’s mane mushroom, one of many very outlandish-looking species in the museum. Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of vast underground organisms that have recently been found to support trees in some cases and are used by trees as communication networks with saplings.
The wonders of creation!

God bless,

Dineke van den Bogerd
